  • 1938 - Count Basie records Blues In The Dark, featuring vocalist Jimmy Rushing

  • 1950 - Sam Phillips opened the doors at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee of what was to become the most famous music recording studio in the world, Sun Records

  • 1964 - Footage of the Beatles performing a concert in Bournemouth, England is shown on The Jack Paar Show.

  • 1966 - Hullabaloo shows promotional videos of The Beatles songs "Day Tripper" and "We Can Work It Out".

  • 1970 - Davy Jones announces he is leaving the Monkees.

  • 1973 - KISS performs their first concert, at the Coventary Club in Queens.

  • 1987 - Aretha Franklin becomes the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
