Music Events:

  • 1843 - The Virginia Minstrels perform the first minstrel show (Bowery Amphitheatre, New York City).

  • 1851 - Schumann's Symphony No. 3 premiered in Düsseldorf, the composer conducting.

  • 1940 - Bob Crosby’s Bob Cats record Spain

  • 1965 - Donovan performs the first of three performances on the British television program "Ready, Steady, Go!". This presents him to a widespread audience for the first time.

  • 1987 - Sonny Bono announces his candidacy for mayor of Palm Springs, California

  • 1990 - Billy Idol is involved in a serious motorcycle accident, resulting in several broken bones. Idol had been scheduled to have a major role in Oliver Stone's film The Doors, but due to his injuries, the role was reduced down almost to a bit part.

  • 1995 - Iron Butterfly bassist Philip Taylor Kramer disappeared from Highway 101 when he was trying to get back home from the Los Angeles International Airport. He tried calling his family, related people and 911 for somebody to help him, but they did not.
