  • 04-23 - Wilco's critically acclaimed fourth album, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot", is released, debuting at #13.

  • 06-04 - Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" certified platinum

  • 06-04 - George Michael was jeered and heckled by the audience of a CNN news show as he took part in a phone interview. George was defending the content of the video to his new single 'Shoot The Dog' in which US President George Bush was shown in bed with UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. George said this was an attack on Blair and not President Bush.

  • 06-05 - Cyndi Thomson's "My World" album certified gold

  • 06-12 - Clive Calder the man who is credited with discovering Britney Spears sold his record company Zomba to BMG Music for $2 Billion. Calder started Zomba in 1975 and had hits with Billy Ocean, Sam Fox and Tight Fit.

  • 06-23 - Nelly started a seven week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Hot In Here.'

  • 06-25 - The Dixie Chicks' "Fly" album certified 10x platinum

  • 07-03 - Sir Elton John became the first person to be awarded an honorary doctorate from the Royal Academy Of Music.

  • 07-13 - Brad Paisley's "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)" hit #1 on the country singles chart.

  • 07-16 - Simon & Garfunkel release the album Live In New York City, 1967, a recording of their live performance at Lincoln Center on 22 January 1967.

  • 07-23 - Brooks & Dunn's second album, "Hard Workin' Man," certified quintuple platinum

  • 07-31 - Blake Shelton's self-titled debut album certified gold.

  • 08-01 - Gary Allan's "Alright Guy" album certified gold.

  • 08-07 - Garth Brooks' "Double Live" certified 15x platinum

  • 08-22 - An opera by the Iranian-Armenian composer Loris Cheknavariyan based on the Persian epic "Rostam and Sohrab" is staged in Teheran to mark the 1000th anniversary of the birth of poet Abol-Qasem Ferdowsi, on whose epic the opera was based; The performance, at Teheran's Milad Hall, featured 125 Austrian musicians and singers; This marked the first occasion that a Western-style opera was staged in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

  • 08-26 - Alan Jackson's Drive album certified triple platinum

  • 08-26 - Brad Paisley's Part II album certified platinum

  • 08-27 - The Dixie Chicks' third Sony album, Home, released

  • 08-27 - Grand Ole Opry favorite Elizabeth Cook's debut album, Hey Y'all, was released

  • 09-14 - Premeire of David Amram's Flute Concerto ("Giants of the Night"), in New Orleans by the Louisiana Philharmonic conducted by Klauspeter Seibel, with James Galway the soloist

  • 09-14 - Premiere of Colin Matthews, Judith Weir, Poul Ruders, David Sower, Michael Torke, Anthony Payne, and Magnus Linberg: "Bright Cecilia: Variations on a Theme by Purcell," at Royal Albert Hall in London, with the BBC Symphony, Leonard Slatkin conducting; This set of orchestral variations on a Purcell theme was commissioned by BBC Music magazine to celebrate its 10th anniversary;

  • 11-29 - The Concert For George is held at the Royal Albert Hall in London as a memorial to George Harrison on the first anniversary of his death, under the musical direction of friend Eric Clapton. Performers included Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Ravi Shankar, Billy Preston and others. The event benefitted the Material World Charitable Foundation.
